The Studio

THE STUDIO is more than just a place. Sure, to the outsider, The Studio is nothing more than an eight-person suite in San Rafael dorm at UCSB. In truth, The Studio is so much more than that! It is a lifestyle, a fellowship, a brotherhood, and an experience. I'm sure more adjectives can be used to describe The Studio, but no words can accurately and fully depict all the aspects that, comprised, make up The Studio.

The Studio is the name given to the suite that seven friends at UCSB live together in. Seven? That seems like an unusual number! Originally there were eight, but after the housing contracts were signed and sent into our wonderful bureaucracy, one gentleman decided that he had a different calling than UCSB, so he left, leaving us with seven.

Why "The Studio"? Well, when we convened last year and decided to live together, we knew that a name would be a necessity. A long, sometimes painful, process was undergone and the name we currenty employ was chosen. We knew that a lot of musical and film/drama/acting talent would be joined together in this suite. We also knew that several productions (mainly films) would come forth from the residents of this suite. With all of the musical and film productions, we decided that our suite most mimiced a studio, thus The Studio. Some of the indivudual rooms have less formal names, as well. For example, Craig and Ben's room can be referred to as the Naked Room, while Lance and Greg's room sometimes goes by the Sugar Shack. Collectively, though, we are The Studio.
